The dust is barely off the bru-ha-ha last week whereby the South Dakota legislature attempted to redefine "justifiable homicide" to be allowed as a defense for killing abortion providers . After mass outrage, that bill was shelved. Now, they want to force women seeking abortion care to have to visit an anti-abortion Crisis Pregnancy Center before getting an abortion. The insanity just doesn't stop.
Crisis Pregnancy Centers (or CPCs) are anti-abortion centers usually located near an abortion clinic who attempt to deceive patients looking for the clinic to come into the anti-abortion center. When an unsuspecting abortion patient goes into the CPC, she is forced to listen to biased information against abortion, and oftentimes told outright lies about abortion. They often force the women to watch a video, all the while making her think she is in the abortion clinic.
Now, South Dakota wants to mandate that women get a signed statement that they've been to one of these CPC centers before getting an abortion.
